CCC 4 cannot access "/Library/Application Support/com.apple.TCC" on macOS Mojave

CCC 4 is not qualified nor tested on macOS Mojave. Some CCC v4 users have asked, however, whether it is possible to grant CCC 4 Full Disk Access on Mojave. We spent well over 100 hours getting this working for CCC v5 and designing custom UI that coaches the user through this procedure with as little effort on their part as possible. While that coaching is not available to CCC v4 users, the following procedure will work to add CCC's privileged helper tool to the Full Disk Access list.

  1. Download CCC v5 and unarchive the Zip file (if it is not automatically unarchived) — you do not need to OPEN CCC v5, but it must be present on your Mac for step 8 to work.
  2. Open the Security & Privacy Preference Pane in the System Preferences application
  3. Click on the Privacy tab
  4. Click the padlock in the lower-left corner to allow changes
  5. Click on Full Disk Access in the categories table
  6. Click the + button
  7. Navigate to the root-level of your startup disk (e.g. Macintosh HD) > Library > PrivilegedHelperTools
  8. Select com.bombich.ccchelper
  9. Click the Open button

When you have completed these steps, you can remove CCC v5 from your system. Please also bear in mind that CCC v4 has limited support for APFS. If you would like to be able to restore system files to an APFS volume or take advantage of point-in-time restores with APFS snapshots, please consider giving CCC v5 a trial run.
