Restoring from a backup on a remote machine

This documentation is for an older version of CCC. This article has been retired, so it does not exist in the knowledge base for the newest version.

The restore procedure is nearly identical to the backup procedure:

  1. Launch CCC
  2. Select "Remote Macintosh..." from the Source menu*. In most cases, the Remote Settings dialog will be populated with the same information that you used to back up originally.
  3. Select a destination volume
  4. Select "Preserve newer files, don't delete anything" from the preconfigured settings menu
  5. Click the Clone button

* Note that the list of items to be copied will remain blank, CCC won't know the contents of the remote folder until the copying task has begun. If you need to limit what files are restored, you can specify a custom filter in the Filters window (via the Gear menu).
